I use tracks from CD’s too to establish the basic tempo or sometimes sing along to make the basic vocal track.

Then I delete the original CD audio and build my own guitar, drum, etc tracks on top of my vocals. Basically I’m building a cover song for my own amusement. You must “own” the audio however or Logic won’t let you bring it in. So burn the song from a CD and put it in iTunes or somewhere where you can access the song from the Media library in Logic. If you own the media, you should have no trouble dragging and dropping.

Maybe the reason it doesn’t work is that Apple doesn’t want you to get it to work. Did you check the format of the audio file?

Most likely there is some copy protection on that prevents it from importing to Logic. There are ways around it like with everything, but that would mean breaking the law, under Dgital Millennium Copyright Act, or some kind of legislation.
